"The purveyor of all things fucked up" is how Los Angeles artist Dr. Benway describes the inspiration for his recording name, a character in the William S. Burrows novel Naked Lunch. The psychedelic, circular tale of drug use, sexual confusion and giant talking insects provided musician Dr. Benway with the creative inspiration for his enigmatic trance loops. "When sounds and samples are layered, sometimes they take on a life of their own. The resulting song is complex and sort of 'speaks' to different listeners in different ways. Any musician with the right equipment can lay down a catchy electronic beat, but I hope my works are something more than that thought-provoking and maybe even a little disturbing."
